A day aboard "Sandpiper" on the Chesapeake Bay will change the way you fish.
Our primary business is "Hands On - Instructional" charters, designed to allow you to
understand the methods and theories used to catch more fish with less effort.
We offer different fishing methods during the various seasons of the year, from trolling for
Trophy Rockfish in the Spring, livelining and bait fishing during early summer, jigging for Rock
and Blues in late summer, bottom bouncing for Flounder, trolling for Spanish Mackerel and
bluefish, or bottom fishing for perch, croaker and spot.
Many recreational fishermen face a steep learning curve to be able to effectively catch fish,
especially the Striped Bass or "Rockfish" as it's known locally.
The best way to catch fish trolling is to cover as many depths of the water column as possible.
Of course this is accomplished by putting as many baits in the water that you can which can be
difficult without getting lines tangled.
My goal is to make this learning curve less steep for you by demonstrating time proven
methods and the theories behind them in an actual reel-time environment.
I offer my clients the chance to be active in the setup of the boat, rods, various lures and
combinations and handle placement and rigging themselves under my supervision. I explain
the rod and lure placement, reasons and the theories in great detail and in a manner which is
easy to learn and take back to your own vessel. Also offered is advice on setting up and
reading your fishfinder, GPS, and other navigational equipment.
.
This "hands on" approach has been proven to be beneficial to new boaters, fishermen new to
the Bay, and family or friendly gatherings where the "catching" experience may be low.
Families are especially welcome as boating and fishing are lifelong activities that are
enjoyable for all ages.
A trip with JoeDaDog and Capt. Steve on Sandpiper will reduce the fishing “learning curve”
and make you and your crew more successful each time you leave the dock.
Bring your crew (Maximum of 4) and learn hands on from a pro.
